Our Director Kris was out enjoying a very important game of golf on the 12th of August 2021. This game was far more important than any Award or Trophy tournament, because the stableford golf game was in aid of the Great Ormond Street Hospital (GOSH) Children’s Charity. Kris’ good friend Craig Metcalf, Sales Director at Hako Machines, organised and co-ordinated the charity golf day in the name of his company, with the goal to raise as much money as possible for this fantastic, high-profile charity.
The eighteen holes at The Welcombe Hotel and Golf Course in Stratford-upon-Avon were sponsored by different companies in order to raise money for the GOSH Charity. We at Saffa Designs did not hesitate and joined this worthwhile cause, sponsoring golf hole number 13 – the unlucky one? Not according to Kris: “This is my lucky number because you make your own luck.”
For those whose luck needs a little bit of help in desperate times, the GOSH charity has been supporting sick children, their families and the Great Ormond Street Hospital itself since the institution opened its doors in 1852. In its over 160-year long history, Great Ormond Street Hospital has been at the forefront of paediatric care research, developing and establishing new ways to treat childhood diseases.
The companies and players of the day raised £12,035 for Great Ormond Street Hospital, thanks to the sponsorship of the golf holes and a raffle with donated prizes. Sure enough the sunshine and friendly, relaxed atmosphere have contributed to this amazing outcome as well.
Having young children of their own, our Directors know how valuable an institution like GOSH and its children’s charity is. All of us at Saffa Designs are thrilled that we were able to be a part of this great charity event and are looking forward to contributing at more events like this in the near future.
